CJ for ensuring quick justice for citizens to make Bangabandhu’s dream come true

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2020 (BSS) – Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain today
said if we can ensure quick justice for the citizens of the country,
it would make the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman come true.

“Bangabandhu is a beacon in our national life as in spite of
spending most of his life in jail, he didn’t bow down to any unjust.
He continued his efforts till the last day of his life to strengthen
democracy and rule of law in the country. Bangabandhu raised strong
demand for separation of judiciary in 1956 and gave us a constitution
in 1972,” the chief justice said.

The chief justice stated these while addressing a virtual
discussion marking the National Mourning Day. Earlier, he paid rich
tributes to the Father of the Nation by placing wreaths at his
portrait at Supreme Court Judges’ Lounge.

The chief justice at the discussion further said the judiciary of
the country is working relentlessly to establish rule of law and
ensure justice for all in the country by upholding the ideology of the
Father of the Nation and it would continue to do so.

Four Appellate Division judges including the chief justice and 28
High Court Division Judges addressed the discussion.

Meanwhile, the attorney general’s office also organized a separate
virtual discussion marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family
members.

Conducted by Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Debnath, the
discussion was addressed by Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Additional
Attorney General Murad Reza, Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin
Fakir, Deputy Attorney Generals Bashir Ullah, AKM Amin Uddin and Bipul
Bagmar, among others.

Earlier, Supreme Court Bar Council and Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishad
paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
by placing wreaths at his portrait at Dhanmondi Road No-32 in the
capital.

A special prayer was held at Supreme Court Jame Mosque and foods
were distributed among poor marking the day.
