Afghanistan reports 76 new COVID-19 cases, 37,345 in total

KABUL, Aug. 12 (BSS/Xinhua) – Afghanistan on Wednesday reported 76 newly
confirmed COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s total to 37,345, the country’s
Ministry of Public Health said.

Within the past 24 hours, 418 tests were conducted, and 76 were positive
COVID-19 cases in 10 provinces of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, the ministry
said in a statement.

Up to 1,345 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic in
the country in February, an increase of 10 within the past 24 hours.

Out of the total infected people, 26,694 have recovered, including 279 who
showed improvement and were discharged from hospitals since early Tuesday.

Laboratories across Afghanistan have completed 97,199 tests since February.
