One to die, another to serve life imprisonment for killing
RAJSHAHI, June 28, 2018 (BSS) – A trial court here today sentenced one
person to death and another life imprisonment for killing a baby in Pabna
around four years back.
Rajshahi Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Shirin Kabita Akhter
handed down the verdict in presence of convicts.
The convict who was given the capital punishment has been identified as
Sohel Biswash, 38, son of Nazrul Islam Biswash of Chowdhurypara area in
Chatmohar Upazila in Pabna. He was also fined Taka 20,000. The life-term
convicts is Abdus Samad, 50, of the nearby Natun Bazar area.
Three other accused of the case- Kabir Hossain, 25, Ayesha Begum, 38,
and Aziza Akhter, 40, were acquitted as the charge brought against them could
not be proved.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the accused in accomplishes with
each other kidnapped Abdullah Al Noor, 4, son of Abul Hossain, from their
resident in Haran crossing area in Chatmohar municipality on June 25, 2014.
Afterward, they killed the boy and dumped his body in a nearby wetland crop-
field.
After a hectic search police recovered the body.
Police also seized some lethal weapons used in the killing from bedroom
of Sohel Biswash, who was tenant of ground floor in Abul Hossain’s house.
Later on, Sohel Biswash admitted his involvement during police
interrogation.
The court sources said Sohel Biswash demanded Taka 15 lakh as ransom from
Abul Hossain a few days before of the body recovery.
Father of the deceased had lodged a murder case with Chatmohar Police
Station on the same day of the body recovery.
