China Harbour donates foodstuff for flood victims at Anwara

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2020 (BSS) – China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC), an international company of China, has distributed foodstuffs among 1,000 poor families at Roypur union at Anwara upazila in Chattogram, which was badly affected by the recent flood.

Relief materials, including lentils and cooking oil, were distributed among the families at an event held at the union today.

Sheikh Zobair Ahmed, UNO of Anwara upazila, Dulal Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge, Anwara Police Station, Jane Alam, Chairman Roypur Union Parishad and CHEC representative MEA Shazzad, among others, were present, said a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, MEA Shazzad said China has been a trusted friend and reliable development partner of Bangladesh over the years.

“Recently we noticed that Bangladesh suffered terrible floods and it is our moral responsibility to extend our helping hand to friendly Bangladeshi people whenever needed,” he added.

China Harbour has been implementing one of the biggest Economic Zones of Bangladesh-Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone (CEIZ) on 774.25 acres of land at Anwara. The CEIZ is expected to attract nearly US$1 billion foreign investment and to create 60-90 thousand jobs, which will contribute to boost the economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
