AKM Delwer Hussain elected Vice President of SAFA

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2020 (BSS) – AKM Delwer Hussain FCMA has been elected as the Vice President of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in its 63rd SAFA Board meeting held yesterday.

He will be the president of SAFA for the year 2021, said a release.

The SAFA is a forum of professional accounting bodies in the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region of eight nations.

It works in the public interest and towards broadening economic development of the region in part through promoting harmonization of accounting standards and practices.

Founded in 1984, the strategy of SAFA is not to create new standards, but rather to promote harmonization by building common knowledge and adoption of International Accounting Standards (IAS, which accommodates regional/national variations).

The release said Delwer Hussain did his graduation with honours and masters in Management from the University of Dhaka. He is a veteran professional Cost and Management Accountant of the country.

Delwer was the President of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) for the years 2004 and 2013. He was first elected as a Council Member of ICMAB in 1999 and till date he got elected as Council Member of ICMAB in every terms of the Council.

Delwer was the former Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) and also was the Director of Rupali Bank Ltd.

He was also a Member of the National Wages and Productivity Commission of Bangladesh in 2010.

At present he is a Member of Finance Committee of BUET, WASO Credit Rating Company BD Ltd. and Secretary General of Consultative Committee of State Owned Enterprises (CONCOPE).
