Jose Luis Marti named new Leganes coach
MADRID, Aug 4, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) – Leganes have confirmed that Jose Luis Marti will be the man in charge of returning them to La Liga after their relegation from the top-flight last season.
The 45-year-old, who has experience coaching Tenerife, Girona and Deportivo la Coruna (who he led to last season’s playoffs), replaces Javier Aguirre.
Aguirre did a magnificent job in taking a club that looked doomed to the drop when he took over, to the brink of salvation, but decided to leave after relegation was confirmed.
Leganes are also reported to have been interested in former Mirandes coach Andoni Iriaola and to have negotiated with Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz, who spent the last four games of last season with Alaves, before deciding to make Marti their coach.
