Corona pandemic remains under control despite conspiracies: Quader

DHAKA, Aug 3, 2020 (BSS) – General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader today said despite conspiracies and propaganda against the country, Bangladesh has been able to keep the Coronavirus death rate low.

“The government under the leadership and directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina continues relief efforts among the flood victims to tackle the Coronavirus epidemic,” the minister said while attending as the chief guest in an online mourning meeting arranged by United Kingdom unit of Awami League on Sunday, said a press release here.

Mentioning that Italian expatriates have expressed frustration and anger due to the propaganda of an expatriate BNP leader, he urged everyone to be vocal against all kinds of propaganda, said the press release.

Praising the united role of the expatriates and the expatriate Awami League activists against all anti-national propaganda, he said, “Our Foreign Minister and Home Minister are doing a great job in this regard.”

“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman pledged to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’… Let us all unite and build a modern prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of his worthy heir, PM Sheikh Hasina, he said.

The meeting was arranged to pay tribute to the late leaders of Bangladesh Awami League including Presidium Member and Former Minister Mohammed Nasim, Presidium Member and Former Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, MP, Women Leader Professor Advocate Mamtaz Begum and former mayor of Sylhet Awami League Central Leader Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran.

The event was presided over by Sultan Mahmud Sharif, President of the United Kingdom Awami League and conducted by Syed Sajidur Rahman Farooq, General Secretary of the United Kingdom Awami League.

At the beginning of the meeting, homage was paid and a dua mahfil was held for all the martyrs of the great Liberation War, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Begum Mujib, Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell, who were killed on 15 August, 1975, added the release.

Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, Jalal Uddin, Prof. Abul Hashem, Harmoz Ali, MA Rahim, Naeem Uddin Riaz, Maruf Chowdhury, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Sajjad Mia, Abdul Ahad Chowdhury and Shah Shamim Ahmed, among others, spoke at the meeting.
