CAPITAL-WASTE-MANAGEMENT-2-LAST DHAKA

DNCC Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore M Saidur Rahman in a
video message today said 256 places in the city corporation area were
designated for sacrificing animals this time while the number of
animals sacrificed in designated places has increased compared to
previous year.

He said DNCC provided different services to the city dwellers
including reaching meats of Qurbani to home, which encouraged many
people to sacrifice animals in designated places compared to previous
years.

Rahman said the authority has undertaken a plan to construct an
advanced slaughter house at the city’s Gabtali as per the prime
minister’s directives.

He said councilors of many wards announced their areas wastes free
last night and gradually other councilors made the announcement before
the targeted timeframe of 24 hours to remove the animal wastes.

The chief waste management officer said officials and employees at
all levels of the city corporation were engaged with the waste
removing activities as DNCC’s own 2667 cleaners and 11,508 others made
restless efforts to free the capital from wastes.

Rahman said it was seemed in the waste management monitoring that
this time online cattle purchase-sale got huge response while the
people made responsible role than previous years abiding by the
authority’s directives in using waste bags, bleaching powder and
antiseptic liquid during Qurbani.

Waste management was monitored through a special app, he added.
