Engineer killed in Sylhet road accident
SYLHET, Aug 2, 2020 (BSS) – An engineer of Fenchuganj Shahjalal Fertilizer was killed and another man injured in a road accident on the Moulvibazar-Sylhet regional highway in Mirzapur area under Fenchuganj upazila of the district today.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Alam, 50, son of Mofij Miah, of Nishchintpur village in Jangal South area under Rangunia Police Station in Chittagong.
Fenchuganj police said, in a head-on collision, a Kulaura-bound speedy bus hit Shahidul’s motorcycle in the area around 11am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Another motorcyclist Sumon, 30, received serious injuries in the incident, the sources said.
A special team of Fenchuganj Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot, rescued the body and the injured person from the spot and sent them to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Sumon is in critical condition now and undergoing treatment at the hospital and the body of the deceased has been kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, police sources added.
However, police seized the killer bus but its driver fled from the scene after the accident.
