CHATTOGRAM, Aug 2, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 74 people have recovered from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours till 2pm today, raising the number of recoveries to 2,408 among 14,481 infected persons in the district.
“A total of 2,408 coronavirus patients have recovered so far and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 16.81 in the district,” Civil Surgeon of Chattogram Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.
The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district after their two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative, he said.
Besides, 30 more people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 276 samples at six COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Among the newly detected patients, 24 are from Chattogram city and six from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Among the total 14,481 coronavirus infected persons, 10,140 are the residents of the port city and the rest 4,332 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
“Among the total infected persons, 5,344 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 2,408 have recovered and 232 died while the rest 6,497 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district,” Dr Fazle Rabbi mentioned.
