Brazil beat Serbia 2-0, qualify for 2nd round

DHAKA, June 28, 2018 (BSS) – Title aspirants Brazil marched on to the next round in a grand manner as they outplayed Serbia by 2-0 in the last group E match of the FIFA World Cup 2018 played in the early hours of Thursday at Otkrytie Arena in Russia.

Former World Champions Brazil shot into lead Countino’s brilliant cross saw Paulinho superbly toed the ball over the head of onrushing Serbian goalkeeper Milenkovic  in the 36th minutes of the play (1-0).

Neymar’s smartly taken corner saw Thiago Silva headed home brilliantly to give Brazil their second goal of the match in the 68thminutes of the play (2-0).

The last part of second half saw it was all Brazil.

Brazil topped the group E by securing seven points from three matches.

 Serbia had to remain at their previous credit of three points playing the same number of matches.

Brazil will face Mexico on July 2nd  in the round of 16 .

Brazil drew 1-1 with Switzerland and beat Costa Rica  2-0 their earlier group matches.
