Eid congregations to be held in 6,000 mosques in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 31, 2020 (BSS) – The Eid-ul-Azha congregations will be held in around 6,000 masques across the district in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As per the guidelines of Islamic Foundation and local administrations, the devotees will offer Eid prayers at different mosques maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by the health directives of the government.

The Muslim devotees will stand in every second row leaving blank one row in the middle inside maintaining three feet distance to prevent community transmission of COVID-19.

Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan and high officials are expected to participate in the congregation to be held at Kachari Bazar Court Jam-e-Mosque in the metropolis at 8 am.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin, Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi, leaders of AL and its associate bodies will offer the Eid-ul-Azha prayers at different mosques.

The biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation of the district will be held at Rangpur Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque at 8:30 am.

Besides, the bigger Eid congregations will be held at Ashrafia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Senpara Jam-we-Mosque, Kamarpara Kutubia Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Pakarmatha Jam-e-Mosque, Bahar Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque between 8 am 10 am in the metropolis.

At most of these bigger mosques, the Eid-ul-Azha prayers will be offered twice between 8 am and 10 am depending on the number of the devotees.

Besides, a limited number of the Muslim devotees will participate in the Eid-ul-Azha congregations in phases maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by the health directives at the mosques at the upazila towns and rural areas.

The devotees will offer special munajats seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed souls of their relatives, respite from the COVID-19 pandemic and continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and the whole humanity.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director of the Islamic Foundation Mohiuddin Chowdhury called upon the devotees to abide by the government’s health directives while offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers across the district.

The Rangpur City Corporation mayor has urged the citizens to slaughter sacrificial animals at the fixed 117 spots in all 33 wards of the metropolis strictly abiding by the health directives of the government.
