DHAKA, July 30, 2020 (BSS): Members of multiple teams of the Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) have arrested 59 members of the doping gang in separate raids at different parts of the capital on Wednesday.
Also, 240 pieces of anesthetic tablets, 4 anesthetic spray bottles, 9 ointment boxes, 7 herbal pain killers, 5 knives, tobacco powder, anesthetic food and chili powder were recovered from them.
DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) Md. Abdul Baten today said at a press briefing that, during the operation on Wednesday, DMP’s Detective Wari Division arrested 16, Cyber and Special Crime Investigation Division arrested 10, Intelligence Motijheel Division held 9, Detective Ramna Division, Intelligence Lalbagh Division and Detective Tejgaon Division each held 8 doping gang members.
At the press briefing, the Additional Commissioner of Police of DB also said that members of the doping gang looted everything by feeding sedatives to the targeted person and took their valuable goods after putting chili powder or harsh ointment in their eyes.
“Although the members of the group were active in the center of the sacrificial animal market. So they were arrested as part of a special operation,” said the official.
The intelligence department has been working to catch them for a past few days… We hope that the arrest of these members of the ignorant party will be safe,” added he.
A case has been filed against the arrestees in this regard.
The press briefing was organized at the DMP Media Center today afternoon.
