Turkey’s TIKA aids 200 underprivileged children with Eid gifts
DHAKA, July 30, 2020 (BSS) – Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has distributed Eid gifts among 200 underprivileged children living in slums and streets in the capital.
The children – 109 girls and 91 boys – were provided with traditional Eid dresses along with surgical masks to help them protect against the novel coronavirus.
Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan handed over the gifts to the children at a ceremony in the capital, organized by TIKA in collaboration with Dhaka Ahsania Mission on Wednesday, a press release said here today.
“Turkey and Bangladesh together can become the beacon of hope for the Muslim world. Eid al-Adha is a good occasion to reflect on this vision,” the Turkish envoy said.
Terming the children as future of the country, Turan said “We should support you to build a better future.”
TIKA’s Bangladesh Coordinator Ismail Gundogdu said TIKA opened an office in Bangladesh in 2014 and has carried out hundreds of projects since then.
Earlier, during the holy month of Ramadan, Turkey distributed food items among the Rohingyas and host community in Cox’s Bazar, said the release.
