Taposh announces Tk 6119 crore annual budget for DSCC

DHAKA, July 30, 2020 (BSS) – The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced a budget of Tk 6,119 crore for fiscal year 2020-2021.

DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh announced the budget at the conference room of Nagar Bhaban in the capital, on Thursday.

This is the highest budget ever for DSCC.

In the last fiscal year (2019-20), Dhaka South City Corporation announced a budget of Tk 3,631.40 crore. Later the revised budget stood at around Taka 2.5 crore.

The size of this year’s proposed budget is larger than the last year’s budget.

Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh announced the first budget after being elected as the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.

While announcing the budget, Taposh said, “A budget of taka 6119.59 crore has been announced for the new financial year. It is planned that most of the budget revenue will come from government and foreign sources.”

It is planned to spend money in at least 17 development sectors including integrated mosquito eradication activities to prevent mosquito-borne diseases, removal of waterlogging, modernization of Kamrangichar, canals recovery, parks and gardens construction, making Dhaka city beautiful and aesthetic, acquisition of land on the banks of the Buriganga for construction of roads and parks, increasing entertainment services, modernization of the central children’s park at Suhrawardy Udyan and purchase of vehicles and equipment for waste management, added the mayor.

Among others, senior officials of DSCC including CEO of the Corporation Shah Imdadul Haque were present at the meeting.
