Shahab calls for transparency and accountability to fulfill Govt. plans

DHAKA, July 30, 2020 (BSS)- Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Md Shahab Uddin today said that the government needs to bring dynamism by ensuring transparency and accountability.

He was addressing as the chief guest at the Performance Agreement (APA) signing ceremony for the Fiscal Year 2020-21 between the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry and its seven departments and agencies was signed today, said a press release issued here.

“We have to work with determination to implement all the plans of the present democratic government including the election manifesto, SDG, Delta Plan and ‘Vision-2041’,” the environment minister said.

The forest minister also said the ministry has to follow the roadmap without delay in implementing its promises, said the release.

He then called upon the heads of the departments and agencies under his ministry to perform their respective official duties with utmost sincerity and devotion.

The Minister also gave special instructions to the concerned to formulate timely and public interest related projects and plans in the environment, forest and wildlife conservation including Sundarbans protection and waste management.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Ministry Secretary Ziaul Ahsan.

Heads of Department of Environment, Department of Forests, Bangladesh Forest Research Institute, Bangladesh Forest Industry Development Corporation, Bangladesh National Herbarium and Bangladesh Climate Change Trust signed the APA for FY 2020-21 with the Ministry Secretary.

Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar was also present as the special guest.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry (Administration), Dr Md Billal Hossain, Additional Secretary (Development) Ahmad Shamim Al Razi, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Md Mizanul Haque Chowdhury and Heads of Departments and Agencies were present on the occasion.
