6,818 COVID-19 patients recover in Khulna division

KHULNA, July 30, 2020 (BSS) – The total number of healed coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 6,818 with healing of 266 more people in a day among the total of 11,519 infected people in the division in the last 24 hours till today’s noon.

“The recovery rate among all 6,818 coronavirus patients stands at 59.19 percent now,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS today.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients are 2,483 in Khulna, 1,062 in Kushtia, 988 in Jashore, 476 in Narail, 414 in Bagerhat, 397 in Jhenaidah, 344 in Satkhira, 280 in Chuadanga, 273 in Magura and 101 in Meherpur districts in the division.

The total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 11,519 with 188 new positive cases were reported after testing 269 samples at the respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon, Dr. Ferdousi said.

The health officials said the newly detected COVID-19 patients are 64 in Khulna, 48 in Kushtia, 35 in Jhenaidah, 24 in Chuadanga, 11 in Magura, two each in Bagerhat, Jashore and Satkhira districts in the division.

“The district-wise breakup of the patients stands at 4,243 in Khulna, 1,740 in Jashore, 1,528 in Kushtia, 879 in Jhenaidah, 692 in Satkhira, 700 in Narail, 574 in Bagerhat, 579 in Chuadanga, 420 in Magura and 164 in Meherpur districts”, Dr. Ferdousi said.

“Among the total 11,519 coronavirus infected persons, 1,215 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 6,618 have recovered and 211 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

With the five more deaths including two each in Khulna and Satkhira and one in Bagerhat, the total number of fatalities now reached 211 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 68 in Khulna, 33 in Kushtia, 24 in Jashore, 22 in Satkhira, 16 in Jhenaidah, 12 in Bagerhat, 11 in Narail, eight in Magura, seven in Meherpur and 10 in Chuadanga districts in the division”, she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 11,519 Covid-19 patients stands at little over 1.83 percent in the division.

“Since the beginning from March 10 last, a total of 49,657 people were put in quarantine and of them, 46,749 released and 2,908 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in Khulna division,” she further said, adding that 204 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 224 others released in the division during the last 24 hours till this noon.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said comprehensive steps have been taken to inspire the people in abiding by the health directives to prevent COVID-19 spread and provide health services to the infected patients to face the situation.
