CU VC’s husband Maj (rtd) Latiful Alam dies
DHAKA, July 29, 2020 (BSS) – Valiant freedom fighter Major (rtd) Md Latiful Alam Chowdhury, husband of Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shireen Akhter, died of pneumonia at Combine Military Hospital (CMH) in Chittagong early today.
He was 71.
Major (rtd) Latiful Alam breathed his last at 1:30am while he was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the CMH, said his family sources.
He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter to mourn his death.
He was kept in ventilation at the hospital for long and then he was died, said CU proctor Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan.
Earlier on July 11, Major (rtd) Alam along with seven members of his family including three grandsons and grand daughter were tested corona positive. They were admitted to the hospital on July 13.
He was found corona negative while he was undergoing treatment at the hospital for a week.
Alam was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) when he was infected with pneumonia. Alam also was suffering from cancer for last ten years and his kidney was damaged during the treatment.
His first namaj-e-janaza was held at Chattogram Cantonment at 11 this morning. He will be buried following his second namaj-e-Janaza at Garibullah Shah Majar area after the Johr prayer.
