70 helpless families get Eid-food in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 29, 2020 (BSS) – Some 70 less-income and hand-to mouth families were given humanitarian assistance to make sure the celebration of the forthcoming Eid through mitigating their livelihood related hardships being caused by the present novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Each of the families was given a food package containing five kilograms of rice, two kilogram of potato, one kilogram each of flour, edible oil and pulse, half kilogram of sugar, vermicelli, two mini packet powder milk and two face masks.

SpaandanB, an organization of Expatriate Bangladeshis living in the USA, distributed the food support at six separate places in Rajshahi city areas on behalf of Laily Rahman, a contributor of SpaandanB, on Tuesday.

Ward Councilors of Rajshahi City Corporation Muhammad Kamruzzaman and Nuruzzaman Tuku, US State Alumni Subrata Kumar Paul and SpaandanB Project Monitor Mahmudul Hassan were present at the distribution programme.

Subrata Kumar Paul said the supports were given in the poverty pockets of the city areas and the support is expected to make sure of their celebrating eid festival.

He said the SpaandanB helps the under-privileged people regardless of their religion, color, age, disability or sex. Its donors do not receive any goods or services in return of their contributions.

“Build a better Bangladesh through changes in quality of life of the less advantaged” is its vision, he added.
