Shameem visits flood-hit areas in Shariatpur

SHARIATPUR, July 28, 2020 (BSS) – Deputy Minister for Water
Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today visited flood hit areas in
Naria and Sakhipur upazila in the district and distributed relief
goods among the victims.

On behalf of Awami League and ‘Begum Ashrafunessa Foundation’ which
was formed after the deputy minister’s mother’s name, Shameem, also an
AL lawmaker from Shariatpur-2 parliamentary seats distributed relief
goods among the marooned people of the two upazilas.

Speaking on the occasion, Shameem said the government as well as his
party will always continue efforts to stay beside the flood victims as
1,500 packets of dry foods are being provided by activists of Chhatra
League every day to the flood victims of the two upazilas.

Besides, he said, AL and its associate bodies including Jubo League
and Swechchhasebak League are making their all-out efforts to extend
humanitarian support to the flood affected people across the country.

“Though there are difficulties in communication with char regions
now, we are reaching dry foods and cash money to remote areas by
trawlers and the relief distribution will continue,” he said.

Shameem said Awami League had stayed beside people in all crisis
periods in the country and it still remains now and do so in the
coming days too.

District AL general secretary Anal Kumar Dey, vice-president Wahab
Bepari, legal affairs secretary Advocate Abul Kalam Azad, member
Delwar Talukder, Naria upazila AL general secretary Hasanuzzaman
Khokon, vice-president Badsha Sheikh, vice-chairman (reserved) Najma
Mustafa and vice-chairman Zakir Bepari were present on the occasion,
among others.
