DHAKA, July 28, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent to jail Sharmin Jahan, owner of Aparajita International, in a case lodged over supplying fake N95 masks to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order, scraping her bail plea in the case.

Earlier, police produced her before the court after end of her three-day remand and pleaded to keep her behind the bars till finishing off the probe in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam on July 25 placed her on three-day remand.

Police arrested Sharmin from the capital’s Shahbagh area on the night of July 24, a day after BSMMU proctor Mozaffar Ahmed filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station.

BSMMU authorities recently found some substandard and fake N95 masks, while providing those to doctors treating Covid-19 patients. During further inspection the hospital authorities found some more fake N95 masks in the third consignment supplied by Aparajita International.
