COVID-19 cases in Khulna division reach 11,070
KHULNA, July 28, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of 221 more positive cases in the last 24 hours till today’s noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division reached 11,070, said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here today.
“We received 282 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 221 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS this noon.
The health officials said the newly detected COVID-19 patients are 55 in Jashore, 46 in Khulna, 29 in Chuadanga, 28 in Jhenaidah, 26 in Narail, 20 in Satkhira, eight in Kushtia, seven in Bagerhat and two in Meherpur districts in the division.
“The district-wise break-up of the patients stands at 4,109 are in Khulna, 1,686 in Jashore, 1,422 in Kushtia, 844 in Jhenaidah, 681 in Satkhira, 681 in Narail, 551 in Bagerhat, 547 in Chuadanga, 396 in Magura and 153 in Meherpur districts”, Dr. Ferdousi said.
The number of recovered COVID-19 continues increasing along with rise in the number of infected patients in recent weeks in Khulna division.
“With the healing of 227 more infected patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 6,221 with the recovery rate of 56.20 percent in the division till today’s noon,” she said.
The recovered patients are being discharged from home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after disappearance of all symptoms and finding of two consecutive real-time PCR tests.
“Among the total 11,070 coronavirus infected persons, 1,169 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 6,221 have recovered and 204 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said.
With the four more deaths including two in Khulna, one each in Chuadanga and Kushtia, the total number of fatalities now reached 204 in the division.
““The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 66 in Khulna, 32 in Kushtia, 23 in Jashore, 20 in Satkhira, 16 in Jhenaidah, 11 in Bagerhat, 11 in Narail, eight in Magura, seven in Meherpur and 10 in Chuadanga districts in the
division”, she added.
Currently, the fatality rate among the total 11,070 Covid-19 patients stands at little over 1.82 percent in the division.
