Opportunity for fresher to prove themselves

DHAKA, July 27, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh National Football team’s head coach Jamie Day today said it’s the opportunity for the fresher to prove themselves in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022 matches.

‘We want fresher in the squad. So it’s the opportunity for four players on show. We have been in contact will all players in the last three months, said Day through a zoom press conference today.

Finland-born Tariq Raihan Kazi, midfielder Nazmul Islam Rasel, winger SM Bablu of Bangladesh Police and forward Sumon Reza of Uttar Baridhara Club are the new faces in the 36-member preliminary squad that was announced on Sunday last.

They have all the training, schedule, plan and advice those we have provided. So it’s time to them now, when they come into the camp, enjoy and show, said Day.

Commenting about the new comer Jamie said new boys are joining the squad they need to get their place in the team again. The preliminary squad is probably is a best squad to pick in terms of players are being available.

Replying to a question Jamie said Mohammad Abdullah, midfielders Atiqur Rahman Fahad and Masuk Mia Jony recovered from injury and both Jony and Fahad did exceptionally well for the national team before. They were part of team and performed well when the team played in Cambodia and other games.

So it’s nice to have them back, obviously the camp is a chance to assess them fitness wise. Fahad had done training with Bashundhara Kings and play many games and Jonny is backed now from his long injury problem. It is good to be them in the camp. They have been lucky in a way that everyone is offered training for a long period of time, added the Englishman.

Everyone will sort of come back around the same sort of fitness level. So for them it’s probably fare and ideal to get them in camp in pre-condition over the next six-seven weeks with the new boys, he added.

Replying to a question about releasing the players of Bashundhara Kings from the club Jamie said: “We obviously need to have a conversation with BFF and Bashundhara Kings… in this regards … hopefully we can find a solution that suit to everyone. We wanted to prepare for the games and obviously Kings wanted the same. Hopefully both parties would be happy. We have a good relation with the club. So we can find a solution that suit everyone.”
