Swechchasebak League celebrates founding anniversary in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 27, 2020 (BSS) – The district unit of Bangladesh Awami Swechchasebak League (ASL) celebrated the 26th founding anniversary of the organisation here today through limited programmes across the district.

The programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags on party office premises, placing wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Bangabandhu Square, plantation and distribution of saplings.

Leaders of the district unit of ASL, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies participated at the programmes arranged maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by health directives in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

After placing wreaths, President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed planted a saplings of ‘Mahogany’ tree on Bangabandhu Square and launched the tree plantation campaign and distribution of saplings in all eight upazilas of the district.

General Secretary of district ASL Dhanojeet Ghosh Taposh moderated a function arranged at Bangabandhu Square on the occasion.

Vice-president of district ASL Maidul Hasan Popu, its Joint General Secretary Saiful Islam Sweet, Organising Secretary Sohel Rana, Office Secretary Sirajul Islam Rabin, President of district Chhatra League Mehede Hasan Rony, among others, spoke.

The speakers vowed to build the developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Mamtaz Uddin called upon leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies to stand beside common people during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as floods alongside with strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for building a developed country.
