142 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 26, 2020 (BSS) – More 142 people were tested positive
for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at two COVID-19 laboratories in
Rangpur division where a limited scale community transmission of the
deadly virus continues at places.

Health officials said the 142 new infected cases were reported
after diagnosing 470 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 63 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 63 patients include 22 of Rangpur, six of Gaibandha, 17 of
Lalmonirhat and 18 of Kurigram districts,” said Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 79 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 282 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 79 new COVID-19 patients include 45 of Dinajpur, 15 of
Nilphamari, 14 of Thakurgaon and 15 of Panchagarh districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after
completing the testing process at 7:55 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director
(Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of
COVID-19 patients stridently rose to 5,689 as 142 new cases were
reported from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 5,689 patients stands at
1,627 in Rangpur, 269 in Panchagarh, 626 in Nilphamari, 345 in
Lalmonirhat, 437 in Kurigram, 334 in Thakurgaon, 1,437 in Dinajpur and
614 Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
