Tazul for making work-plan for projects to maintain timeframe

DHAKA, July 26, 2020 (BSS) – LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today called upon all concerned to formulate specific work-plan and specify timeline in adopting any project to complete it within a specific timeframe.
“Only formal formulation of work-plan will not complete the whole work rather progress of those should always be evaluated and reviewed to complete it successfully within specific timeframe,” he told an APA signing ceremony of LGD with its subordinate offices, organizations and city corporations at its conference room at the secretariat.

The minister said that it takes 8-10 years to complete a project and six months for processing a project paper. He questioned that if it needs years to plan a project, then when the nation will get its benefit.

About the standard of project works, Tazul gave a note of warning saying that if project works do not maintain standard and cause any harm for people or if any corruption or irregularities is found in project works, legal actions will be taken against all concerned including engineers and constructors.

He said if anyone concerned with projects face obstacles in maintaining work standard, the ministry will take the responsibility to face it. He asked all not to make any comprise to this end.

The minister said those who would uphold quality works would be rewarded in their job, likewise punishment would be given to the wrongdoers to discourage them in doing misdeeds.

Tazul appreciated the sincere works of offices and bodies under Local Government Division (LGD) in the wake of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The minister extended his thanks to Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA), Local Government Engineering Department and Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) for attaining top three positions respectively in the evaluation of annual performance agreement (APA) for 2019-20 fiscal.

On behalf of the minister, LGD Senior Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed inked the APA for 2020-21 fiscal with chief executive officers of 20 offices, organizations and city corporations under the division.

Chaired by the senior secretary of LGD, high officials of the divisions and concerned offices and organizations and city corporations were present at the agreement signing ceremony and some others joined it online.
