Payra Port remains functional despitechallenges: Khalid

DHAKA, July 26, 2020 (BSS)-State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today said Payra Port has witnessed dynamism in works although there are some challenges.

The state minister said while addressing a meeting with the officials of Payra Port at the conference room of the port.

Kazi Kaniz Sultana MP, Chairman of Payra Port Commodore Humayun Kollol and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), among others, were present at meeting.

The state minister planted a sapling on the office premises of the port.

Later, he visited the development activities of the port.

The state minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not only showing us dreams, but also implementing those dreams.

Urgingall concerned for working with responsibility, he said,“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be honored through ourwork,” he said.

The meeting informed that 73 ships have arrived at Payra port since September 2019 and the government has earned Tk. 178 crore by handling these ships.

The Payra Port Infrastructure Development Project and the first terminal Work of the project is going on and these works will be completed by 2022.
