5,800 COVID-19 patients recover in Khulna division

KHULNA, July 26, 2020 (BSS) – The total number of recovered coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 5,800 with healing of 293 more people in a day among 10,695 infected people in Khulna division in the last 24 hour till this noon.

“The recovery rate among all 5,800 coronavirus patients stands at 54.23 percent now,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS today.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients are 2,229 in Khulna, 925 in Kushtia, 856 in Jashore, 353 in Narail, 304 in Bagerhat, 270 in Chuadanga, 281 in Jhenaidah, 229 in Magura, 267 in Satkhira and 86 in Meherpur under the division, she mentioned.

“The healed patients were discharged from home isolations or Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the division after disappearance of all symptoms and two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” she said, adding that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 10,695 with 234 new positive cases reported after testing 283 samples at the respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Dr. Ferdousi said among the 234 newly detected COVID-19 patients, 63 in Jashore, 60 in Khulna, 39 in Jhenaidah, 27 in Kushtia, 20 in Chuadanga, eight in Magura, five in Meherpur, six each in Satkhira and Bagerhat districts in the division.

“The district-wise breakup of the patients stands at 4,010 are in Khulna, 1,629 in Jashore, 1,380 in Kushtia, 809 in Jhenaidah, 653 in Satkhira, 625 in Narail, 541 in Bagerhat, 511 in Chuadanga, 386 in Magura and 151 in Meherpur under the division,” she said.

“Among the total 10,695 coronavirus infected persons, 1,136 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 5,800 have recovered and 198 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division,” the health official mentioned.

With the eight more deaths including four in Khulna, two in Chuadanga, one each in Jashore and Satkhira, the total number of fatalities now reached198 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 64 in Khulna, 30 in Kushtia, 23 in Jashore, 20 in Satkhira, 16 in Jhenaidah, 10 in Bagerhat, 11 in Naral, eight in Magura, seven in Meherpur and nine in Chuadanga in the
division, she further said.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 10,695 COVID-19 patients stands at little over 1.85 percent in the division.

“We’ve maximum importance on inspiring the people in maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by the health direction to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 and providing proper treatments to the infected patients,” she added.
