70 tested positive for COVID-19, 67 recovered in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 26, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 70 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 383 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

Among the newly detected patients, 63 are from Chattogram city and seven from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 13,739 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

“A total of 1900 coronavirus patients including today’s 67 have recovered so far and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 13.72 percent in the district,” Dr Fazle Rabbi said.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said,

Among the total infected patients, 9,560 are from Chattogram city and 4,139 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

With today’s one death, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) death in Chattogram reached 229.

Dr Rabbi said 13 new patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 156 samples in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 18 more new patients were tested positive for COVID-19 at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) after testing 96 samples during the same period.

Besides, 13 new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram University after testing 37 samples in the last 24 hours while four more patients were diagnosed with the disease at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University after testing 43 samples during the same time,” the civil surgeon said.

On the other hand, 22 more patients were diagnosed with the disease at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 51 samples, he said.
