Train service with north becomes normal after 9-hour

TANGAIL, July 26, 2020 (BSS) – Train service between northern and southern parts of the country became normal nine hour after a train named “Kurigram Express” derailed near eastern bank station of the Bangabandhu Bridge in the district, an official said.

Three coaches and engines of the Kurigram Express, leaving Dhaka for Kurigram, derailed in Pathailkandi Bazar at 11.30 pm on Saturday, snapping the rail communication between country’s northern and southern parts, said Abdul Mannan, assistant station master of the east bank of Bangabandhu Bridge.

Later, a rescue train from Dhaka reached the spot and started salvage operation, he said, adding that at around 9am, the derailed coaches and engines were lifted on the tracks.

After one hour, the Nilsagar Express train, bound to Dhaka from Nilphamari, crossed the area, he continued.

None was injured in the incident, the rail official said.
