65.72pc COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 26, 2020 (BSS) – In spite of a rising trend in the daily number

of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in recent weeks, the recovery rate among

infected patients stands at 65.72 percent in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the number of recovered COVID-19 patients currently

stands at 3,646 with the healing of 63 more infected people at the dedicated

corona hospitals or isolations at homes on Saturday in the division.

“Meanwhile, 111 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Saturday raising

their total number to 5,547 in Rangpur division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and

Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

A total of 37,841 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till

Saturday night, and of them, 5,547 were found COVID-19 positive with an

infection rate of over 14.65 percent in the division.

“The COVID-19 infection rate stands at 14.65 percent against the recovery rate

of 65.72 percent till Sunday morning,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Currently, the district-wise break up of the total 5,547 patients stands at

1,605 in Rangpur, 254 in Panchagarh, 621 in Nilphamari, 328 in Lalmonirhat, 419

in Kurigram, 320 in Thakurgaon, 1,392 in Dinajpur and 608 Gaibandha of the

division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 4,679 patients stands at 1,416 in

Rangpur, 194 in Panchagarh, 581 in Nilphamari, 239 in Lalmonirhat, 318 in

Kurigram, 273 in Thakurgaon, 1,146 in Dinajpur and 512 Gaibandha in the

division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

“Presently, the district-wise break-up of the total 3,646 recovered patients

is 1,143 in Rangpur, 150 in Panchagarh, 530 in Nilphamari, 204 in Lalmonirhat,

219 in Kurigram, 225 in Thakurgaon, 849 in Dinajpur and 236 in Gaibandha,” Dr.

Siddiqui added.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan said the

total number of fatalities rose to 100 in the division from where three more

deaths were reported on Saturday.

“The district-wise break-up of total 100 fatalities include 31 of Dinajpur, 29

of Rangpur, 12 of Gaibandha, nine of Nilphamari, six each of Kurigram and

Thakurgaon, four of Panchagarh and three of Lalmonirhat districts of the

division,” he said.

A total of 58,539 people were put in quarantines since the beginning of the

COVID-19 outbreak in Rangpur division, among them, 52,761 have so far been

released and 5,778 are remaining in home or institutional quarantines.

A total of 1,74,313 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) were

received so far, and of those, 1,08,254 pieces distributed with a current stock

of 66,059 pieces in the division.

“We have also received 11,140 masks and distributed 4,677 with 6,363 pieces in

hand, got 60,854 hand gloves and distributed 50,150 with 10,704 pieces in stock

and received 8,983 bottles of hexisol and distributed 5,468 with 3,515 bottles

in stock,” Dr. Khan said.

The government hospitals and other health services providing facilities of

Rangpur division have 1,123 physicians, 1,757 nurses and 5,907 other staff to

provide treatments to the infected patients and face the COVID-19 situation.

Divisional Commissioner (General) KM Tariqul Islam said comprehensive steps

have been taken to inspire the people in abiding by the health directives to

prevent COVID-19 spread and provide health services to the infected patients in
