112 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 25, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 12 people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur division following continuance of a limited community transmission of the deadly virus.

Health officials said the 112 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur today.

Of them, 58 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 58 patients include 15 of Rangpur, 16 of Gaibandha, 10 of Lalmonirhat and 17 of Kurigram districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 54 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 54 new COVID-19 patients include 30 of Dinajpur, five of Nilphamari, 11 of Thakurgaon and eight of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients stridently rose to 5,548 as 112 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break-up of the total 5,548 patients stands at 1,605 in Rangpur, 254 in Panchagarh, 621 in Nilphamari, 328 in Lalmonirhat, 419 in Kurigram, 320 in Thakurgaon, 1,394 in Dinajpur and 607 Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
