DHAKA, July 25, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed Sharmin Jahan, owner of Aparajita International, on three-day remand in a case lodged over supplying fake N95 masks to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam passed the order as investigation officer (IO) and detective branch inspector Shah Md Akhteruzzaman Ilias produced the accused and pleaded to place her on three-day remand.

Police arrested Sharmin from the capital’s Shahbagh area on the night of July 24, a day after BSMMU proctor Mozaffar Ahmed filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station.

BSMMU authorities recently found some substandard and fake N95 masks, while providing those to doctors treating the Covid-19 patients.

During further inspection the hospital authorities found some more fake N95 masks in the third consignment supplied by Aparajita International.
