157 tested positive for COVID-19 in Ctg district

CHATTOGRAM, July 24, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 157 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 842 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Among the newly detected patients, 106 are from Chattogram city and 51 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 13,503 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

Among the total infected patients, 9401 are from Chattogram city and 4102 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

A total of 1,792 people were released from different hospitals after their recovery from COVID-19 infection till today, he said.

Dr Rabbi said 31 new patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 238 samples in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 26 more new patients were tested positive for COVID-19 at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) after testing 167 samples during the same period.

Besides, 46 new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram University after testing 65 samples in the last 24 hours while six more patients were diagnosed with the lethal disease at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University after testing 186 samples during the same time, the civil surgeon said.

On the other hand, 15 more patients were diagnosed with the disease at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 60 samples while a total of 27 people were tested positive for coronavirus after testing 121 samples at Imperial hospital during the same time, he said.

Meanwhile, four residents Loharagar upazila of the district were tested positive for coronavirus after testing 21 samples at Cox’s bazar medical college hospital, Dr Rabbi added.
