Security Services Division inks APA with its organizations

DHAKA, July 23, 2020 (BSS) -The Security Services Division (SSD) under the Home Affairs Ministry today signed ‘Annual Performance Agreement (APA)’ for 2020-21 fiscal with its subordinate offices and organizations to enhance institutional capability.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal witnessed the agreement signing ceremony at the ministry as the chief guest with SSD Secretary Md Shahiduzzaman in the chair, said a press release here today.

Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) Director General (DG) Major General Shakil Ahmed, Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General AKM Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence DG Brigadier General Md Sazzad Hussain and Department of Narcotics Control DG Sanjoy Kumar Chowdhury signed the APA with SSD Secretary Md Shahiduzzaman.

Describing the background of APA, the minister said performance management system has been introduced to enhance institutional capability, transparency and accountability and also ensure proper use of resources.

An effective, efficient and dynamic administrative system is a must as the government is firmly determined to strengthen good governance by materializing the ‘Vision 2041’, he said.

Khan said, the achievement of targets of the APA is evaluated on the basis of 100 numbers at the end of the fiscal year.

Actually, through the APA, initiative has been taken to make the ministry works as result-oriented from system-centric, he added.

The minister said the prime target of the agreement is to address what the ministry wants to achieve, how to achieve it and for whom.

The APA for 2020-21 fiscal has been formulated keeping consistency with the government’s electoral pledges, its overall development priorities especially perspective plan, 7th five-year-plan, sustainable development goals (SDGs), Vision 2041 and others strategic deeds, he added.

Khan said as per the country’s 2nd perspective plan (2021-2041), Bangladesh will be an advanced and prosperous nation coping with the modern world by 2041 and to attain the goal, hence it is the duty of the state to establish good governance and APA is an important strategy for annual performance management in establishing good governance.

The vision of the APA is to build a happy, peaceful and safe Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he added.

He called upon all concerned to make their all-out efforts to this end.
