Rapist killed in gunfight with police in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, July 23, 2020 (BSS) – An alleged serial rapist was killed in a gunfight with police in Bayezid Bostami area in the city early today.
The deceased was identified as Belal Hossain Tarafdar, 30, a driver of CNG-run auto rickshaw and resident of the same area.
Deputy Commissioner of CMP Bijoy Bashak said “The gunfight took place in the hilly area at about 5am when police went there to arrest the culprit.”
“Sensing the presence of police, his cohorts opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight,” he added.
Later, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Belal from the spot and recovered a light gun, cartridges and yaba pills, he said.
He was accused in 10 cases filed over rape and molestation with Bayezid Bostami and Akbar Shah police stations.
