2-year-old child burnt to death in city’s Bangshal

DHAKA, July 23, 2020 (BSS) – A two-year-old child was killed and three others were injured in a fire that broke out from gas explosion in city’s Bangshal area this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mainuddin whilethe injured are Mainuddin’s father Javed Mia, 30, his mother Sheuly Begum, 25 and Mainuddin’s sister Jannat Akhter, 4.

The family memberswere severely burnt in the fire as an explosion took place in the kitchen when breakfast was being made at the ground floor of a two-storey building, adjacent of Jumman community centre, at Kasaituli under Bangshal police station here around 10 am, said Idris Ali, sub-inspector of Bangshal police station.

The body of the child has been taken to Mitford Hospital morgue.

The injured are now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

“All the injured are in critical situation”, said Partha Sankar Pal, resident surgeon of the institute.
