Afghanistan reports 201 new COVID-19 cases

KABUL, July 23, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) – Afghanistan on Thursday reported 201 new COVID-19 cases within the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 35,928 cases, the country’s Ministry of Public Health confirmed.

“During the past 24 hours, 834 suspected cases were tested, out of which 201 cases were tested coronavirus positive in 12 provinces of the country’s 34 provinces,” the ministry said in a statement.

Another 21 COVID-19 patients succumbed to the virus, taking the number of people who lost their lives to 1,211 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February.

The number of recoveries stand at 24,521 after 286 patients recovered during the period.

Thirty-one patients remained in severe condition, according to the statement.

The ministry has conducted 85,413 tests since February, according to the statistics of the ministry.
