Two held for cheating with college students

DHAKA, Jul 22, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today
arrested two persons who took money from the students of Dhaka
University affiliated seven colleges with false assurance of passing
the failed students through Facebook.

The arrestees were Masum Rana Rony, 24, and Md. Abdur Rahim Sadek, 22.

Allegation has been raised against the fraudsters of embezzling
huge amount of money from the students by promising them to ensure
pass in the unsuccessful examinations for long, said a DU press
release.

The fraudsters used a fake Facebook account named ‘Faisal Mahbub’
to communicate with students of different years of seven colleges,
said the release citing victimized students.

The fraudsters also commented on a Facebook group of students and
promised them to ensure pass in the exams in exchange of money also
give higher marks to those who got less marks and grabbed money from
many students through bKash, it read.

Being informed, the Examination Controller of DU lodged a general
diary with the Shahbagh police station on July 1 and lodged a written
complaint to RAB-3.

Following this, RAB-3 arrested two people including the leader of
this gang today.

A case under the Digital Security Act was also filed at Shahbagh
Police Station on behalf of Dhaka University.

The university authority urged the students not to fall into the
trap of any kind of frauds and not to deal financially with the
fraudsters.
