ACC sues Shahed, 3 others over graft

DHAKA, July 22, 2020 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed a case against four people, including Regent Hospital Ltd chairman Mohammad Shahed, for plundering money from the NRB Bank Ltd.

ACC assistant director Sirajul Haque filed the case against them with its Dhaka integrated district office-1, said a press release of the national anti-graft agency.

The other accused in the case are Md Ibrahim Khalil, managing director of Regent Hospital Ltd; Md Sohanur Rahman, former principal officer, SE Banking of NRB Bank Ltd; and Wahid Bin Ahmed, vice-president, SE Banking of NRB Bank Ltd.

According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with one another embezzled over Taka 1.51 crore from the bank in between November 2014 and January 2018.

The case was filed under the Section 409/420/109 of the Penal Code-1860 and the Section 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1947.
