Initiatives will be taken to protect city dwellers from mosquito bites: Khaleque

KHULNA, July 21, 2020 (BSS)- Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque here today said initiatives will be taken to protect the city dwellers from mosquito bites.

“Everybody should be aware of preventing dengue virus carrying mosquitoes. Besides, non government organisations (NGO) should come forward side by side with the KCC’s initiatives,” he said while addressing a launching ceremony of two ‘Fogger Machines’, a machine used to destroy mosquito breeding and spreading, in the city’s Nirala area.

Nirala Abasik Jonokollyan Samity, an organisation formed for the well-being of the residents in the city’s Nirala area, organised the ceremony to launch the machines.

Requesting all to dump garbage at the fixed places identified by the KCC or handover to NGO-operated cleaners under the supervision of the KCC, the mayor said, people should remain alert and keep clean their surroundings like homesteads, flower vases at offices and residences, fields of school and colleges, to stop the breeding of dengue carrying mosquitoes.

Terming the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to combat COVID-19 pandemic as any effective coronavirous destroying vaccine has not yet been invented, Khaleque requested all to maintain health guidelines including wearing masks, using hand sanitizers and maintaining social distancing directed by the government for personal safety.
Chaired by the president of Nirala Abasik Jonokollyan Samity Md Abdul Jabbar, its Secretary Sk Abed Ali, President and General Secretary of ward number-24 Moinul Islam Nasir and Ataur Rahman, among others, were present.

Later, the KCC mayor distributed foodstuffs among 100 destitute people at ward no-25 in the city.
