Land Minister to review Land Appeal Board’s virtual hearing process

DHAKA, July 21, 2020 (BSS) – Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury has directed reviewing the ability of the Land Appeal Board in settling cases through virtual hearings.

The minister gave the directive while speaking at a function marking the signing of the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for the fiscal year 2020-2021 with the Ministry of Land under the government’s performance management system at the conference room of the ministry today, said a release here.

The minister directed the chairman of the Land Appeal Board to provide land services in the current epidemic situation and to enhance the future capacity.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina praised the Land Ministry for achieving the ‘United Nations Public Service Award, 2020’ in the Jatiya Sangsad, which is a great achievement for us. We have high hopes for the nation now and must strive to maintain this achievement by working better with transparency and efficiency,” he said,” he added.

“Let us see a beautiful reflection of this year’s good performance next year,” Saifuzzaman said, asking the heads of the departments and agencies under the ministry to do their utmost to meet the targets as per the annual performance agreement.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Land Secretary Md Makshudur Rahman Patwari and was attended by senior officials of the ministry, including the heads of the departments and agencies under the Ministry of Land.

The land secretary firmly expressed his commitment to implement the activities as per the annual performance agreement by ensuring efficiency, transparency and accountability, added the release.

Chairman of Land Appeal Board Begum Ummul Hasna, Chairman of Land Reforms Board Md Yaqub Ali Patwari, Director General of Land Records and Survey Department Md Taslimul Islam, Director of Land Administration Training Center Md Abdul Hai and Controller of Accounts (Revenue) Mashiur Rahman signed the APA agreement with the Ministry of Land on behalf of his department.

On the other hand, the land secretary signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry.
