9 shop owners fined, one held for selling fake healthcare products in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 20, 2020 (BSS) – A mobile court of the district administration today fined Taka 60,000 to nine shop owners in the city’s Golam Rasul Market for selling fake healthcare products like PPE, hand sanitizers and masks.

The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Ali Hassan, conducted a raid at 10 shops on the ground floor of Golam Rasul Market this noon and fined nine shop owners Taka 60,000 for selling fake hand sanitizers, masks and personal protective equipment (PPEs).

After the drive, a large quantity of fake masks, PPEs and hand sanitizers were seized and destroyed, district administration sources said.

Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have also arrested a person with 30 liters of fake hand sanitizer in front of Chattogram Shopping Complex in Sholashahar area of the city this noon, said Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of RAB-7.

The arrested was identified as Parvez Hasan, 29, son of Mohammad Yousuf, hailed from the city’s Bahaddarhat area.

On a tip-off, a team of the RAB-7 conducted a raid in the area and nabbed Parvez and recovered 30 liters of fake hand sanitizer from his possession.
