44th death anniversary of Col.Taher tomorrow
DHAKA, July 20, 2020 (BSS) –The 44th death anniversary of Liberation War Sector Commander Colonel Abu Taher will be observed tomorrow.
The freedom fighter and commander of Sector No. 11 during the war of independence was hanged in the Dhaka Central jail after a military trial on July 21, 1976.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the central executive committee and the district and upazilacommittees of JatiyaSamajtantrik Dal (JASHAD) will observe the day through a short programmeincluding paying homage to the portrait of Colonel Taher in compliance with the health rules.
Besides, members of JASHAD central committee, president and general secretary of Dhaka metropolitan committee and presidents and general secretaries of allied organisations will pay homage to the portrait of Colonel Taher at Bangabandhu Avenue at 11 am tomorrow.
To observe the day, JASHAD President HasanulHaqueInu and General Secretary ShirinAkhtar instructed the district and upazila committees to observe the day with due dignity in accordance with the hygienerules.
Taher was born on 14 November 1938 at Badarpur station in Assam.
