Indonesia reports 1,693 new COVID-19 cases, 96 new deaths

JAKARTA, July 20, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) – The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 1,693 within one day to 88,214, with the death toll adding by 96 to 4,239, Achmad Yurianto, a health ministry official, said at a press conference on Monday.

According to him, 1,576 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 46,977.

Within the past 24 hours, seven provinces, namely Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi and Gorontalo, recorded high numbers of cases, Yurianto said.

No more new cases were found in seven provinces including Jambi, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Lampung, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and Central Sulawesi.

Yurianto called on the public to obey the health protocols to avoid more COVID-19 infections.
