49.12 pc COVID-19 patients recover in Khulna division

KHULNA, July 20, 2020 (BSS) – The recovery rate of coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 49.12 percent in the division where positive cases are continuing to rise amid limited scale community transmission of the virus at places.

Health officials said the number of healed COVID-19 patients rose to 4,524 with the healing of 295 new people at the dedicated corona hospitals and isolations at homes on Sunday in the division.

“The recovery rate among all 4,524 coronavirus patients stands at 49.12 percent now,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS today.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients are 1,714 in Khulna, 737 in Kushtia, 670 in Jashore, 260 in Bagerhat, 258 in Narail, 235 in Jhenaidah, 229 in Chuadanga, 186 in Satkhira, 158 in Magura and 77 in Meherpur under the division, she mentioned.

“The healed patients were discharged from home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the division after disappearance of all symptoms and two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” she said, adding that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 9,209 with 268 new positive cases were reported after testing 282 samples at the respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

The health officials said the newly detected 268 COVID-19 patients are 69 in Khulna, 65 in Jashore, 52 in Kushtia, 31 in Chuadanga, 19 in Jhenaidah, 18 in Magura, five in Bagerhat, four each in Meherpur and Satkhira, and one in Narail districts in the division.

“Among the total 9,209 COVID-19 patients, 3,664 are in Khulna, 1,399 in Jashore, 1,193 in Kushtia, 645 in Jhenaidah, 524 in Narail, 510 in Satkhira, 411 in Bagerhat, 400 in Chuadanga, 330 in Magura and 133 in Meherpur districts” Dr. Ferdousi said.

“Among the total 9,209 coronavirus infected persons, 973 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 4,524 have recovered and 166 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said.

With the 10 more deaths the total number of fatalities now reached 166 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 55 in Khulna, 27 in Kushtia, 20 in Jashore, 14 in Satkhira, 13 in Jhenaidah, nine in Bagerhat, eight in Narail, seven each in Magura and Meherpur and six in Chuadanga districts in the division”, she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 9,209 Covid-19 patients stands at little over 1.80 percent in the division.

“Since the beginning from March 10 last, a total of 47,327 people were put in quarantine and of them, 44,419 released and 2,908 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in Khulna division,” she further said, adding that 384 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 242 others released in the division during the last 24 hours till today’s noon.
