Concerted efforts to contain coronavirus spread stressed
RAJSHAHI, July 20, 2020 (BSS)- Concerted efforts of all authorities concerned has become an urgent need to stem the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading amid its present alarming surging rate.
Utmost emphasis should be given on maintaining social distancing and following health safety precautions to stop the deadly coronavirus infection.
The observations came at a high level administrative meeting held at Circuit House conference hall in Rajshahi city on Sunday evening. The meeting discussed and devised ways and means on how to halt the virus dispersion collectively.
Mayor of Rajshahi city AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, addressed the meeting as focal persons with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil in the chair.
Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Brig Gen Jamilur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Dr Enamul Haque, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shahidullah and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Rashidul Hassan were present at the meeting.
The meeting was told a total of 2,108 people in the district including 1,666 in its city have, so far, tested positive.
In the meeting, Mayor Liton said Rajshahi city remained free from Corona contamination for a long time due to taking a number of steps including creating mass consciousness and stoppage of movement of buses.
But, after the arrival of people from various areas of the country in Rajshahi during last Eid-ul-fitr, the Corona situation in Rajshahi starts to deteriorate.
He added, now RCC has been trying to control Corona with a united effort from various organisations.
Liton also advised everyone to remain alert during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. He said, a large number of people will gather at the sacrificial cattle markets during the Eid that is why everyone at the hat should maintain health rules. He emphasised on maintaining social distance and using masks.
