KCC fixes 140 spots for slaughtering sacrificial animals on Eid-ul-Azha
KHULNA, July 19, 2020 (BSS) – Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authority in the aftermath of COVID- 19 pandemic situation has earmarked 140 places in the city for slaughtering sacrificial animals on the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.
The decision was made at a virtual general meeting of KCC recently held at the its Shaheed Altaf Auditorium following directives of the LGRD Ministry.
Chaired by KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, the meeting urged the city dwellers to slaughter their sacrificial animals at KCC identified slaughtering spots in line with health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government.
The meeting also decided to form 15 member committee in each 31 wards of KCC with ward councilor as its president.
“The number must not be above 140 as we have already sent the list to the ministry concerned recently,” said Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, veterinary officer of KCC today.
He said, a total of 175 butchers from different Madrasas will be engaged for slaughtering the animals in 140 spots on Eid day.
“A campaign to this effect will begin seven days before the Eid-ul-Azha to raise awareness on slaughtering sacrificial animals in the designated spots. The KCC councilors will also carry out the campaign,” he said adding that religious leaders of all mosques will also be involved in the campaign during ‘Khutba’ at Zumma prayers before Eid.
The designated slaughtering grounds will have butchers, cleaners and relevant helping staff and an ‘Imam’ to conduct the slaughtering the sacrificial animals on Eid day.
Adequate number of KCC staffs will be deployed seven days from Eid ul Azha for removal of animal wastages for ensuring environment friendly atmosphere in the city, he said.
