NESCO employee dies of COVID-19 in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 19, 2020 (BSS)- An employee of the Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) Limited, Chapainawabganj died of COVID-19 at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) last night.
It is the first death of confirmed COVID-19 patient in the district, according to official record of the Civil Surgeon (CS) .
CS of Chapainawabganj Dr. Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury told BSS that the dead was identified as Kazi Ataur Rahman 56, Assistant Accountant of Chapainawabganj office of NESCO .
After first Namaz-e-Janaza held at Chapainawabganj central eidgah this morning his body was sent to his native village Porsha union under Naogaon district for burial, Assistant Engineer of NESCO Mohammad Sadiqul Islam said.
Ataur Rahman was first admitted to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital with COVID -19 positive and was referred to RMCH on Friday last as his condition was deteriorated.
The CS said a total of 291 persons tested COVID-19 positive and 120 patients have so far been cured in the district till today.
He added that at present, 16 out of 171 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital and other clinics and the rest are being treated in different isolation centres and home quarantines.
