Light to moderate rain likely in parts of country

DHAKA, July 19, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate rain or thunder showers in some parts of the country in next 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rajshahi and Barishal divisions and at a few places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions in 24 hours staring at 9 am today,” a met release said.

Different places of the country may see moderately heavy to heavy falls during the time, it said.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends upto North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.

Maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius at Chandpur and minimum temperature today 24.5 degrees Celsius at Teknaf.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty four hours till 6 am today was recorded 83 millimeters (mm) at Dimla under Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6.48 pm today and rises at 5.23 am tomorrow in the capital.
